Writing Sample?

So I have an interview later this week and they requested I bring a writing sample. I can't use my first memo because the prof wrote whole sections of it for us, and we haven't received our second memo back yet. Mine is about twelve pages, but our CSO says that writing samples should be between 5-8 pages. I have no idea where to begin even cutting it down. I've tried emailing my LRW professor, but no luck. Any tips on where to begin? I don't even know how I did, which is making me really nervous.

Thanks!

Five to eight pages is a good general guide, but for a 1L in your situation, you'd be fine with the 12-page memo unless the employer itself tells you your writing sample should be shorter.

12 pages is probably fine, but if you need to cut the general rule is to just cut the intro/facts portions and leave in a substantial part of the analysis.
