Re: The Official 1L Summer Employment Thread - 2012 Edition
You guys got replies? My emails have been roundly ignored.
Worst part is, I didn't do any real networking this semester and hence don't know anyone, and my sole mentor is useless, and so probably all of those applications I sent out last night will have been a huge waste of my time, because the firms will look at them and be like:
1) who the fuck is this?
2) if she likes us so much, how come we never saw her anywhere, ever?
3) oh look, this next one is from X's son

Yeah, I've managed to get some replies. Reaction is undoubtedly similar to your description, though.Peg wrote:You guys got replies? My emails have been roundly ignored.

I just got my first rejection letter from a judge. Pretty impressive considering my letter just got there this morning presumably. At least she was prompt about it.

Sent out 94 email mass mailers this morning and 15 personalized cover letters and resumes to my home secondary market.
If I get nothing out of this I may kill myself. I already got invited to a firm event by one of them but that is a far cry from an interview.

3 firm rejections.
I emailed them each back and thanked them. One of them replied to my thank you email with a personal compliment on my resume. It is nice to know they are reading it at least.

Not sure off the top of my head, they were all in the NALP directory though. I'm not surprised at all to be honest. I did receive a few more replies saying to update them with my grades and a few saying they would be reviewing resumes during the next month, so not all bad!r6_philly wrote:What size firms? Anyone hear anything from Texas firms yet? I figured it would take a few days to get a response, but it seems as though others have already heard back in some form or another.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
