MoFo vault vs. chambers

just curious why MoFo is #1 is regional NorCal. Realized only now that MoFo has relatively low Chambers rankings. What's the deal - why so much mojo love?

The only CA firms that have comprable chambers rankings are Latham, Gibson, and maybe OMM, all of which are LA firms based firms with most of their talent (and most of their workforce) based in LA. For firms in SF/SV, MoFo has by far the highest concentration of chambers ranked attorneys. This is because MoFo is huge in norcal. They have the largest office in SF (200+ lawyers) and the second largest number of lawyers in norcal (450ish vs 500 for wilson).

I didn't look at a partner list, but if you look at corporate bands for overall practices like M&A, etc. MoFo is not tops in many, if any.

MoFo is good. not great, but good. they are biggest in norcal but some of the other firms listed are better.
