Offers from both in the NorCal market. Any thoughts in terms of IP practice? I'm undecided between Lit and Corporate. I know that a whole bunch of IP partners at Dewey were recently brought over from Cooley, if that changes things.

Go for Cooley! I went to a recruiting event they held in the NY office. The summer associates were gushing about the awesome retreat they went on in California. Of course, a retreat in Cali may not be as big a deal for west coast associates.

Cooley is 100% more well known/prestigious/high profile in norcal.

My guess is that all of the people voting for Dewey aren't from/looking in CA. Glad I wasn't alone in my assessment for Cooley.

Anyone voting for Cooley must not be familiar with Dewey's tech transactions group.

Cooley is whatever. I would go Dewey for sure

Thanks for the input. From what I can gather, Cooley has a great name in the area. That, and they like to hire waspy types with thousands of fb friends. definitely not my cup of tea - and i am not like that so wondering where my offer came from.

That said, Dewey's Corporate as well as Tech Trans were all poached from Howrey and Cooley and so I believe that is where the talent lies.

I am primarily interested in IP lit, but am also looking for some Corporate and M&A exposure.

No interest in working with VCs.

Just out of curiosity: Cooley SF or Cooley SV? When I did my CB at Cooley SF I did not get the "waspy with thousands of fb friends" vibe.

Not sure where you got the "waspy" vibe. Sister in-law worked there. Asian, no fb account, loved it.

Cooley SV. Maybe its an SV thing, or maybe its just the students i know who worked there last year as SA and that will be working there this year as SA fit the waspy fb lovers description.

The one URM that they do have is Asian, and they are few and far between.

Very even on the polls, but i think I'm gonna go with Dewey.
