I normally hate asspie threads lime this but I have to ask

So tomorrow I'm gonna have some beers with some lawyers at a firm which I have an offer from (not accepted but probably will). Venue has a sort of casual dress code. Jeans and a button front shirt okay?

First, it doesn't matter much because you have an offer. Second, I'd probably dress business casual. Khaki at the very least. Jeans are the international symbol of too casual.

Also, order Pabst Blue Ribbon. It'll show how awesome you are.

first off, i don't agree with the pbr suggestion

second, what time of day will you be meeting with the attorneys? will they be coming straight from work? if so, i wouldn't wear anything more relaxed than biz casual, ie no jeans

What's wrong with PBR? It won an award and does in fact demonstrate awesomeness.

As for the attire, I agree that biz casual is probably best. Speaking from my life before law school anytime I met with prospective employers, even in a social setting, business casual was as dressed down as I'd get, jeans and sneakers are just to casual.

Khakis and a polo should be good.

Edit: Think of it this way, it's better to be overdressed in business casual than under dressed.

PBR went from country livin to hipsters and frat boys thinking they were edgy. For that reason, its lost its credibility.

Let this thread die here, where it belongs.

I like your one-upmanship of bad beer trolling with terrible beer trolling.

I would just order an empty glass, piss in it, and drink that. It could not be any worse than natty ice and you will save the firm a few bucks.

This screams, "I had no fun in college."

In case you haven't been in a biglaw(or any) office lately, lawyers often wear jeans to work, and shockingly also when they get beer w/ friends. No one is going to give a fuck if you wear jeans and sneakers, especially because you already have the job.

If people have a problem with jeans when the stated dress is casual, they are un-American. May the ghost of Joe McCarthy have mercy on their soul.

You'll be fine with jeans + button-up. You'd even be fine with jeans & a t-shirt, so long as it isn't some tacky shit with designs on it.

In my experience visiting firms for interviews, I have to say that (except for Quinn) I do not think I have ever seen a lawyer wearing jeans. The one time I did, I overheard the secretaries talking shit about him for doing so.

On the west coast, people wear jeans, even in lawfirms. Nowadays you only dress up for clients and the like.

Depends entirely on the market. This would not fly in the slightest in Boston.

Jeans + a button-up or collared shirt is fine.

Good poast, but FTFY. It's a surefire way to hedge against a no-offer.

Proskauer Boston wears jeans for most of the summer. It really varies firm by firm and also by season or other things (lots of shops allow it on Fridays).

Well at the big 3 it wouldn't - I know 0 about Prosk.

In that same vein, it is better to be drinking PBR than to not be drinking PBR.
