Not sure if it is really one of the more "laidback" NYC big law firms since I have only summered at one NYC big law firm and can't compare. I heard a few associates say that their friends at other firms had it "much worse" implying that it still sucks at Dewey, just not as bad. I met associates who pulled all-nighters and I met associates who left at 7pm every day. Practice area made the difference.

I was at Shearman this summer, and I absolutely loved it. The summer class got very close, the attorneys were very friendly, and the partners took the time to teach us a few things. I got to attend court at least 4 or 5 times.
