I havent seen my wife in like a week because she's in bed when I get home and in bed when I leave in the morning. I work all the fucking time but am still behind and still get yelled at for taking too long to write briefs or write summaries of documents.

I used to work between 70-100 hours every week (average 10 hours a day 7 days a week with spikes due to the incompetence of employees) for a $45,000 per year salary plus a performance bonus every quarter with somewhat crappy benefits and no prestige with little room for advancement and 20 year able-to-work lifespan without a pension or 401k matching.

STFU and enjoy it or scroll through the website that has people holding up their signs about their families (99% or something) and get a clue.

Don't worry. I've been seeing a lot of her in bed between when you leave and when you get back, too.

Tell her to stay up later.

Ugh these responses. Hang in there, OP.

Obviously, in the range of life outcomes, biglaw is not so bad.

However, to those mocking the OP, there is something uniquely difficult about putting in long hours in a professional services environment that requires detail-orientedness to an absurd degree and doesn't provide for meaningful autonomy for a number of years.

Good luck dude, hope it gets better soon.

I guess I'm not at "biglaw" but I think it's somewhat comparable (hours target is well north of 2000, salary is above market, just more of a boutique in a non-NYC/Chi/DC market). My hours haven't been bad (a little over 2 months in). Billing 50-55/week and not working much, if at all, on weekends. Longer weekdays, but still have time to do dinner/other things with the lady and friends on weeknights (I think my savior is that I like to wake up really early).

Do you get time in for a good cardio workout at least 5 times a week?

True, depressing and stressful life circumstances can lead to ED so I didn't consider that.

I hope you are able to work out 5-10 hours a week even though you are putting in bigtime hours.

When I was a biglaw paralegal, my SO would get a nap in during the afternoon and wait until I got home to wake up and have dinner. Maybe see if that is something y'all could try.

Does your firm offer VPN access? Perhaps you could use it to work from home at night.

[insert joke here about the types of access his wife offers while he's away]
