Yikes. This IS a tough choice. To clarify:

- A V5, but IP doesn't even appear on the lenghty list of the firm's ratings on Chambers & Partners (EDIT: nameless as their IP may be, they did do work for Yahoo!, Comcast, Energizer...)

vs

- A non V-ranked, well regarded small IP boutique (NIKE, Lexmark) that most lawyers outside of IP have never heard of.

I guess it depends on your commitment to IP...

I did a screener with Banner and didn't like them, but that's because it was pretty clear that they had no real interest in me and were just wasting my time. But I got the impression of a young, relaxed, casual firm (in terms of culture, not hours). I am heading to one of the big IP boutiques, but Banner is precisely the kind of place to which I hope to lateral in a couple of years if things don't go too well where I am heading.

Yes. Indubitably major players in the IP field.
