Is the generally accepted wisdom that SoCal is better for general lit and NorCal, especially SV, is better for corporate and IP lit?

Yes, although NorCal has general lit firms that are as good as any in SoCal (i.e. Keker) and SoCal has IP firms that are as good as any in NorCal (i.e. Irell)
