Top Law Schools

I'm interested in litigation. PH seems to be strong in a lot of areas, in NY and nationally. The NY office's Chambers general commercial litigation ranking, however, is not exceptional (Highly Regarded Band 3). Does it make sense to take an offer at a much lower-ranked Vault firm with a much stronger Chambers ranking in litigation? I would appreciate any input on the NY office and its litigation/white collar work in general. Also, does the very positive work/life balance as reported in recent associate surveys live up to the hype?

Worked there this past summer, received an offer, and would highly recommend the firm. While you do work hard (even as a summer at times), I wouldn't consider it a sweatshop, and the people that work there make it much easier-basically, the surveys do accurately portray the firm IMO. In regards to the litigation group, it is the largest and fastest-growing group in the NY office, and the work seems to be constantly flowing and top-notch. Not sure how much white collar work is done though, so if that's your main interest, you should check. For that matter, if you have an offer, call recruiting and ask to speak with other (I recommend junior) associates, or go back for another visit to meet with specifically litigation associates. Recruiting will be glad to set it all up for you.
