For transactional, the answer probably depends on whether you plan to go in-house or think you may be partner material. If the latter, the gossip I've heard is that Skadden Chi is the wrong choice irrespective of practice area.Anonymous User wrote:Litigation - Don't do it if you have offers from Kirkland/Sidley/Winston/Mayer
M&A - Pick over everyone but Kirkland (maybe consider Sidley)
Finance - Don't do it if you have offers from Kirkland/Sidley/Winston/Mayer
Specialty Groups - Don't do it. Skadden only does corp and lit in Chicago.
Please explain.Anonymous User wrote:Litigation - Don't do it if you have offers from Kirkland/Sidley/Winston/Mayer.
I've heard this too, only without the "if you want to do M&A" exception. Actually, Corp/M&A and Bk are the 2 departments I've heard are having difficulties.Anonymous User wrote:I heard randomly over lunch in the city that Skadden is to be completely avoided unless you are doing M&A. The person speaking to me described the firm as "a mess." I expressed surprise, but the person reiterated their opinion and told me the Chicago office is among their weaker ones. Word of mouth, FWIW.
