Now I know getting a CB is never a bad sign generally. I did the interview on Tuesday and almost immediately got a CB. But they set the date for about 3 weeks from now! I'm wondering, is this a bad sign in terms of my chances of being offered? Assuming I interview well etc... and that is not the issue, should I be worried that they're doing other CBs before mine, which is why its scheduled so far away from now, and that they might offer positions before my interview is up (and then just interview me for the sake of it)?

Or am I reading too much into this?

You can't control that. Don't spend time worrying about what you can't change.

If the summer class is large, they are probably interviewing a lot of people. Also consider that firms often spend a good half day on callbacks, and don't want to have a ton of students in at the same time. (Awkwarddd.) So if they're doing, say, 4 students a day for the next 3 weeks, that's still not THAT many people.

They wouldn't interview you if they weren't interested in hiring you. Don't worry about the date.

They're not a massive firm, but they're pretty big. I would say they hire maximum 4-5 people for summer associates next year. I know I have a great chance at getting the offer due to my previous work experience and my law school's strength in the area (I'm in GW and they hire a lot of GWers).

I guess I'm just worried that they'll interview other people before me, fill up those 4-5 slots, then basically have no place to offer me a position even if I am a great candidate.

I know I can't change it. Just wondering if its normal for a CB to be scheduled so far away.
