What's their deal? They seem roughly V10-selective; for what kind of person would it make sense to take Patterson over a V10 firm?
Also interested if anyone has callback experiences they're willing to share.

They want people with really good grades, but don't care so much about the school they went to. This doesn't really make them more or less selective than other firms who might only recruit at T10 schools, but go deeper in the class.
It's a good place for aspiring commercial litigators, and if that's what you want to do I'd at least consider it alongside other firms (including the V10).

Patterson tends to attract a lot of clerks. They have a very interesting, but specialized practice. They have a reputation for having very interesting work and great quality of life, but I would say that you should only go there if you know you want to do (or would be happy doing) the type of litigation they do, which is mostly (1) IP (both patent and a surprisingly large copyright/trademark practice), (2) false advertising and (3) media litigation.
They have some partners that do other types of litigation, and they have a small corporate department, but those are the three things they're strong in/known for.

If you want to be a litigator... would you ever choose Patterson over Kirkland & Ellis or Quinn Emanuel? Seems like their quality of life is a huge positive.

I have a professor who summered with Paul Weiss, but immediately left for Patterson Belknap and said his experience at Patterson was SO much better

If that's not a reason to choose a firm, I don't know what is
