Was told part of callback would include one "scenario" interview with a hypo to read over and then discuss with a partner. What is this?! Has anyone done this?

I did last week. Seems as through the painfulness factor depends on the partner you're doing the interview with. Mine was very laid back and it wasn't too difficult.

Any advice for this? What kind of scenario are you given?

It was honestly a joke. They give you a hypo where you are a SA in situation where you are basically helpless and they ask you what you would do in that scenario. Just emphasize that you would rely on your "team" at LLs.

In my hypo, I said that I would call the associate I was assigned to for guidance. The partner I was interviewing with said "imagine the associate was not available." Then I said I would rely on the other SAs for advice. He said again "imagine they are also unavailable." Then I said that I would try to make the best of the situation and follow the instructions given in the hypothetical to the last detail. And then, amazingly, the partner interviewing me said, "but you could call the partner for guidance." And I'm like WTH! If you shot me down when i said that the supervising associate and other SAs' were unavailable, y would the partner on the case be available?!

Yeah, I'm just venting at the stupidity of the LL's CB/hypo. Also they sit you down in the beginning with a HR person who asks you one by one every question you could possibly be asked at a job interview (eg what is your greatest weakness/strength, favorite/least favorite class, greatest challenge, how do you evaluate your own process etc). The HR person also takes down notes on everyone of your answers. This lasts for 35 minutes. And after all this, they do not even take you out to lunch.

I'm the anon who bumped the thread. Thanks for the advice. It sounds like it's going to be awful, but at least I know what to expect going in now. I was wondering why they had me meeting with recruiting for an hour. I was hoping it was for lunch.

Anon who posted experience here. It was just those those two parts of the CB that were frustrating. The partner I did the hypo with was hostile/argumentative towards everything I said. He even argued that I was not "international" enough when compared with the typical LL atty. Otherwise the other partner I met with and the two associates I met with were pretty cool and pleasant.

I have one coming up too. Pretty scared now.

Its really not that bad. I found the experience to be really taxing and was really tired afterwards but everyone was pleasant and even apologetic for the interview style.
