one of my friends just left their IP lit department because there just wasn't enough work to keep him busy...

Ropes also still has a number of people coming from deferral/pro Bono fellowships over the next two years. They might not be the best place to go if you're interested in starting on time after graduation.

Ropes indicated to current 3Ls that they will start on time. The NAP program is no longer even available.

If you're non-IP you probably shouldn't express interest in IP because you probably won't get IP work.

Ropes NY is definitely strongest in IP Lit and Corporate work. There is a large General Litigation group as well, but you might want to consider other firms if you are not open to doing Corporate work (and specifically private equity).
