Mass Mailing Timing

Hi all:
I'm wondering what the best time is to send off the mass mailing cover letter and resumes to firms. I just started my third year and I'm looking at medium to smaller law firms. I was going to send my batch off in a couple days. Is this way too early or is it good to get your stuff out there now?
