Not interested in remaining in big law for life. No debts to pay, but interested in getting the experience. Is lateraling from big law (after say, 3 years) to DOJ an option?

P.S. ineligible for honors program because pending citizenship, but will be citizen by the time the lateraling opportunity presents itself. Question here is about the nature of that opportunity itself.

Rather not out myself having disclosed non-citizenship. Assume competitive.

As far as I know, it's quite common. At least when the DOJ is hiring.
