Heard today that when you apply to firms for SA positions during 1L summer, they ask for your UG transcript even if you're not applying for IP law. Whyy?? My UG transcript is bad bad bad. So if you get good grades during 1L year, will they still ask for your UG transcript?
I go to a T25 law school on the east coast and my law school has a strong alumni network in New England. I want to work in NYC Biglaw...so is that out of the question now?

That makes more sense, though it still sucks.
Is it a bad idea to apply late for 1L SA positions, like end of January, because you waited for your first semester grades?
