I had a screener last Monday with an NYC firm. My interviewer, a hiring partner, said that he was very eager to meet with me and after a few minutes of conversation said that he would recommend me for a callback. He then sold me on the firm for a few minutes and said that we didn't need to talk anymore and to expect my callback soon.

Haven't heard anything since and there have been some reports on my school's OCI thread about this firm making CBs (but not my inteviewer).

Should I email him? If so, what should the contents of the email be?

You know what's even worse then this? Having the interview, getting a phone call, being invited to the 'callback' dinner, going to the dinner, then having radio silence afterwards.

OP here- I guess I thought that the explicit "I am recommending you for a callback" was a bit different from the linked thread. Maybe I'm wrong.

In any case, is there anything wrong with sending an email like this:

Dear so and so,

I greatly enjoyed meeting w/ you last week. I'll be in New York next week and have callbacks scheduled for X and Y, but Z is free. I am very interested in working for your firm next summer and hope to meet with more of your attys soon.
