NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Aug 17, 2011 6:25 pm

So, first day's over. Don't know if any firms will give callbacks tonight, but it's not unheard of. Figured I'd open this thread for discussion of callbacks as we hear about them, whether tonight or tomorrow or ongoing, separate from the earlier thread on bidding and interview prep.

If you feel comfortable doing so, report initials along with firm to give a sense of who has and hasn't given CBs so far.

Good lord, you guys must have rocked it to have gotten CB's this fast. Congrats! I feel like the majority of my interviews went well. No real stinkers, and a few that I felt like I rocked. Time will tell. Did you guys find out about the CB's via email?

Anyone know what the typical timeframe is for callbacks for most firms? Obviously it is the exception to get a CB on the day of, or within 24 hours of the interview. But what is standard? A few days to a week after the interview?

Mind giving your interviewer's initials?

Pretty sure 24 hours is not at all unusual. A lot of people will be getting CBs during the day tomorrow. But I would say most places, especially the big NYC firms, make their CBs within 48 hours. There are exceptions, like Covington, which takes at least a week because they read your writing sample and call your references. But within a few days in the norm.

Small firms are much less predictable. Some will give CBs (or even offers) at the end of the screener, some will take more than a week to get back to you.

Thanks, that is good to know. Makes me extra excited to see what calls come in during the next 2 days.

Also, anyone interviewing with Willkie tomorrow--they give CBs on the spot, supposedly.

I have Willkie tomorrow. Wish you didn't say that lol. Now I will feel like I blew it if I walk out of the room without a CB.

I had the same reaction. Of course, maybe it means we did blow it.
Good luck on Day Two everyone.

I'm interviewing with an associate (although a quite senior one). It doesn't feel like they would give authorization to an associate to give spot-callbacks, but perhaps. Maybe only some partners do this.

No callbacks for me yet, but I know other people at NYU got callbacks from Cahill and K&L Gates.

It's too early to be worried about not getting CB's, right? I didn't interview with either of these firms.

I have good grades but am not the best interviewer, so I am slightly nervous.

What were the Debevoise interviewer's initials?

Not comfortable saying until/unless other CBs are reported from Debevoise.
