Rather not say the firm, but SF CB today. So CA is not done with CBs

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
Neither are NY firms. I heard of people getting CB's as of this afternoon. As people cancel CB's, spots open up and those in the "hold" pile might get a shot. Thats why its so important that those who get the offers they seek cancel all outstanding CB's ASAP!!Anonymous User wrote:Rather not say the firm, but SF CB today. So CA is not done with CBs

Edit: Latham (SD) ding via snail mail. Akin Gump (LA) ding via e-mail; that one shocked me based on interview and stats.

Verifying this. They sent me a CB by snail mail. Call them up, make sure the empty envelope was supposed to be a ding.Anonymous User wrote:actually i read on some thread (Duke OCI, i think) that they sent some CBs by mail. maybe you should call to check?Anonymous User wrote:Snail mail ding from Lowenstein Sandler NJ, I assume...the envelope was empty.

Accepted an offer from a firm this morning, freeing up CBs at:
Linklaters, Kirkland, Jones Day, KL Gates, Dechert, Goodwin Procter, SewKiss, Chadbourne, Fried Frank, Paul Hastings, Mayer Brown, Morgan Lewis, Cahill.
FYI, a couple of these came as late as 10 days after EIW. Best of luck to those still waiting!

Haven't heard a word. Sent my interviewer an update to my resume a week or so after OCI, and he let me know he got it and said he is passing it along. But no word one way or the other.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone else STILL not heard from K&L gates?
Oh, and I got Milbank email ding today. Not my best interview, so I guess I'm not upset. I've had way too many that went absolutely awesome that didn't result in callbacks for me to whine about a so so interview not going my way.

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
I'm losing hope for any callbacks from the mythical "hold" pile. I had 10 OCI interviews still pending as of this morning, and got 5 rejections today to cut that number in half. Such a big amount of rejection all at once sorta hurts, but I thrive off negative energy so it only motivates me more to one day rub it back in someone's face since I never let a grudge go. I know one rejection is Milbank via email, but I will update once I actually see which firms sent me letters (which I was told are waiting for me at home)

Paul Weiss and K&L Gates snail mail dings today. Milbank email ding. Got a SewKis ding but that was from an in office interview rather than through OCI (not that it makes it suck any less). Oh and a rejection from a CB in a secondary market that I secured through mass mail. Well that was a shitty day.

I got 3 today. I was expecting dings at all of them, but it still smarts.Anonymous User wrote:I'm losing hope for any callbacks from the mythical "hold" pile. Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
I know this is a stupid question, but at what point can one feel relatively safe in letting an offer expire? Here is my situation:
I've been doing a bunch of mass mail interviews and CB's before and throughout OCI, and have 2 offers, one from a mid-size NY firm, and another from a large non-Vault firm in my home state. Both made the offers relatively early, and while I am certainly interested in the home state offer, I have a series of CB's with more selective and "prestigious" larger firms coming up, including 9 with Vault firms (most in NY, but some NJ offices, and some in Philly). The home state firm offer will expire before I find out the results from pretty much any of these September CB's that will happen over the next 3-4 weeks. I just wish I could feel safe given 9 big firm interviews, and I have no idea if I would be a fool to allow the earlier offer to expire (and no, they won't extend the offer).

Only waiting on a few more OCI responses:
Quinn Emanuel
Sidley
Pillsbury (DC)
Davis Polk
Latham
Sullivan & Cromwell
Kramer Levin
I'm not expecting any good news (especially since I've been completely shut out of V25 firms and don't expect that to change with a late-round CB). Pillsbury DC I don't really care about since I don't want DC, but Kramer Levin would be a pretty sweet CB if it came through. Holding out the slightest bit of hope that one of the big boys will give me a call.
