How to answer questions such as hobbies, uniqueness?

I was asked a couple of times during interviews about my hobbies and/or what is unique about me. I found it is very hard to answer, esp. for the uniqueness question. Why do they ask those questions? How do you answer those questions?

Do you really not have any hobbies or other things you like to do that are unique?

Interviewers ask this question to get a broader picture of you. Just answer honestly and leave out the German porn fascination. Its not a trick question.

i think the best way to handle these questions is just to answer with the truth.....what is unique about you? what are your real hobbies? obviously you might need to edit a little bit if you have weird hobbies.

Make sure your response makes it seem like you are the lawyer version of P. Allen Smith.

OP here. the hard part is that I really do not have any hobbies that are worth mentioning. I like movies, dinning out, surfing the web, watching TV, etc. I know I should be honest, but none of them sounds good during a job interview. About "uniqueness", I cannot think anything unique about myself, just an average person... And I do not want to lie either...

Develop a hobby. Sign up for a dance lesson and say you like to, hell, slasa dance. pick up an instrument and say you play said instrument.

I think dining out can be a good one. What is your favorite kind of food? What are your favorite restaurants? Any particularly memorable places you've visited while traveling?

Be genuine.

They ask those questions because most law students are one dimensional and socially awkward. If you have a problem answering, then you probably fall into that category.
