Phone rejections are just mean.Cavalier wrote:It can be anywhere from the end of the callback (in the case of S&C, most of the time) to several weeks after. Top NY firms generally have a quick turnaround, but things vary drastically outside of those firms. A few don't even make decisions until October. Some firms will tell you when decisions will be made, and others will not. If you aren't told when to expect a decision, you should monitor the OCI threads here (both the main "Callback, Offer & Ding" thread and the thread for your school's OCI, if one exists) to see if anyone else has received an offer or rejection, and also search for any past discussion of the firm for information on previous years.
Rejections are usually by snail mail; rejection emails from callbacks are less common than from screening interviews. I've heard tales of phone rejections but they seem to be extremely rare.
S&C extends offers to roughly 90% of the people they call back (which is abnormally high compared to other firms), so there isn't much to discuss. I think they make the decision to hire while the candidate is at lunch and then inform him or her afterwards, assuming all the evals are in. Note that they don't always receive all of the evals on time, so when that happens, the offer decision won't be made until a couple days later (so not hearing anything at the end of the interview is not necessarily a rejection).Anonymous User wrote:How does S&C find the time to get all the evaluations together and discuss the candidate by the end of the callback?
statswise, it seems like an S&C offer is yours to lose once you have secured a callback.Anonymous User wrote:S&C extends offers to roughly 90% of the people they call back (which is abnormally high compared to other firms), so there isn't much to discuss.
