Interviewing Question, quite possibly a stupid one

I was wondering, when asking questions of your interviewer/answering questions you are asked, should we gear them more towards summer associate positions, or associate positions generally. I ask because one firm I am looking at has an associate's committee for new (non-summer) associates that seems at least semi-interesting. Should I ask about this given that the presumption is that summer jobs lead to these positions or should I not ask because I am interviewing for a summer position, with only the chance of this other employment.

If you are interviewing at BigLaw or any firm where SA positions are the path to permanent positions, it is fine and expected to ask about the future. Firms are looking for good fits and dislike hiring people who are looking for one summer of good pay. Showing that you care about long term issues is a good interview technique. ( assuming of course you aren't asking about vacation time or the like)
