What is the proper etiquette for the end of summer associate jobs? Gifts for mentors? Gifts for legal assistant? Written notes? Typed letters?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Nothing is probably the most appropriate thing. If someone was genuinely helpful send a thank you email or just stop by before you leave and say "thanks for everything." If the class isn't too large, I'd also suggest getting everyone together for a thank you card to the recruiting coordinator or person that organized group activities and assignments. Giving out gifts is never appropriate imo, and a thank you card to everyone you worked with is just totally unnecessary, unhelpful fluff.Tree wrote:What is the proper etiquette for the end of summer associate jobs? That is stupid. WTF is wrong with her? Recent divorce?pehaigllleises wrote:One of our recruiters emailed us on our last day and chastised us for not giving the recruiting department some kind of small gift. Bad manners on her part aside, apparently gifts are expected at some places.
I'd be tempted to forward it to either the head of the department or an attorney in charge of recruiting, just so they are aware that the help is begging for gifts from the recruits. I'm not saying I'd send that email; but I'd be tempted.pehaigllleises wrote:One of our recruiters emailed us on our last day and chastised us for not giving the recruiting department some kind of small gift.
