This thread was interesting last year, so lets get it going again. Post where you went to school, class rank, number of bids, and number of interviews. If you get a callback, post that too. Other Northern California schools also feel free to post.

I'll start. Davis top 1/3. 25 bids, 4 interviews-3 midsize, 1 biglaw. Pretty much what I expected for round one, but I'm hoping the next rounds are better.

Hastings

Top 35%
Moot Court
Secondary Journal
Extensive WE

Original Preselects/Lottery
40 Bids, 11 Interviews (6 Big Law, 4 mid law, PwC)

Also got 7 open sign ups, so 18 total now which makes for 12 Big Law, 5 Mid Law, and PwC

School: Hastings
Rank: 8%
Review/moot: HLJ
Other: Several years' WE

Bids: 40
Interviews: 26
Firm breakdown: 3 SF/Sacto midlaws, 2 of which pay market. All the rest are BigLaw.

OCS refuses to tell us which are lottery and which are pre-select. But I did not get my No. 1-ranked firm, which I suspect was not a hugely popular one. And I know that they take your # of pre-select interviews into account before giving you any lotto slots.

Was top 1/3-ish last year around OCI time (betta now) and ended up with excellent firm job. Keep the faith, Davis kiddos, and do those practice interviews.

Also, don't be a noxious gunners. 3Ls can and do tell their firms which Davis rising 2Ls are worth a second look and which are toxic. It pays to be nice, always.

I had 26 screening interviews last year as well and at one point asked career services how many they thought were lottery. They said that with that many interviews it's unlikely any were lottery, because the point of the lottery system is to "even out" the number of interviews everyone gets. Hope that helps!

Also, top-10% at UCH + LR makes you competitive for every single firm that interviews there. Even if one was lottery, it wouldn't matter.

Alameda DA interview wasn't my best, I don't think I left them feeling that I would be a DA over a PD, even though I would for sure be an DA at Alameda if I had the opportunity.

Anyway, for those that interviewed w/ Alameda DA, did they also give you a line about getting back to you in October? I can't tell if that's a way of saying sorry don't expect a call back or if they are actually that slow with call backs.

So far I have 5 callbacks: V20(2), V50(1), Mid size(2). 4 dings from V100s. Silence on the rest.

Update: Offer from one of the V20s, accepting once I physically have the letter. Good luck everyone.

OP here:

1 callback (midsize). Also, I got a really nice email from the associate who assisted on my only biglaw interview. She actually mentioned specific things that we talked about, so I was very impressed that it wasn't just the standard boilerplate that firms send out. Regardless of whether I get a callback, it was a classy move on her part. Silence on the others.

Hastings. Graded on to HLJ. Good WE.

I had 25-30 OCI interviews. 15 callbacks, 9 rejections.

Callbacks at 2 V10s, 2 V20s, 6 V50s, 2 V100s and at 3 local/regional firms. Dings run similar range, with most V50-100.

Hastings:

Top 25%
Grade on to LR
Good WE

1 Callback, 5 dings so far. No word from the rest.

I've been hearing that this year firms are placing an even heavier emphasis on grades. GL everyone.

You sure you graded on at Top 25%? I *barely* graded on and I was Top 10%.
