Any good stories you've heard (or experienced) that have resulted in a no-offer or an extremely surprising offer?

I think there is a thread like this asking for personal stories, but I'm looking for any stories, past or present, personal or hearsay.

How to lose an offer:

Get sloppy drunk with coworkers, and have them tell the entire story to your other coworkers (including a partner) about how you got kicked out of the bar (on 2 separate occasions) and shoved and very nearly fought with a douchebag who was talking shit to you at the bar.

I've matured a lot since then. :D

1. Be a D-bag to your classmates.
2. At social functions, talk only to partners. Very senior partners.
3. Don't do any real work. When confronted about it at your midterm review shrug it off and change nothing.
4. When confronted again about unproductivity, lie about the causes.
5. When shown by the hiring partner that the lie is demonstrably untrue, run to other senior partners to try and get them to believe it's true. (See also supra #2)
6. Have hiring partner discover #5.
7. When no-offered, act shocked--nay stunned. Ask why no one told you that you were headed off track.
8. Then recover and tell all your classmates, "It's OK. I've already got my clerkship." (See also supra #1.)

I may have some details/sequence off a bit but this came from our hiring partner at a training session "How to get no offered."
