I have a callback interview at a V10 in NY in the next two weeks or so. Pretty nervous.

Any advice on what firms are looking for in callbacks, dealing with multiple interviews, etc...

Callback interviews are just very, very long screening interviews with multiple attorneys. Just be confident and relaxed and bond with every attorney. I did this process last year and I don't think I got a single offer from any firm where I didn't get along with all the attorneys I met (except for one, but they were pretty low ranked and in a very small, secondary market). Also, don't be afraid to re-use questions. Your interviewers will never ask each other about the specific conversations you had with each one.

Firms always talk about looking for the magic "fit" with applicants. It sounds hokey, but it's true. The attorneys just want to be able to get along with you and know that you fit in with the firm "culture".

One big thing that helped me was drinking a big cup of coffee and going to the bathroom right before a callback. The caffeine will help you stay perky throughout the day (you have to seem just as chatty and enthusiastic with your last interviewers as you did with your first) and it's really hard to fit in bathroom breaks when each interview is scheduled back-to-back.

is the character of the CB interview similar to a screener interview, i.e. a discussion of one's school, UG, WE, etc., or more related to law/practice groups of the firm? and one's potential duties as an SA? do you walk around the offices and meet a bunch of people or are you shuffled into a conference room? when you go to lunch, is it pretty fancy? town car?

My experience: same convo topics as screener, walk to people's offices to do the interviews, nice lunch, walk if its close but cab/associate drives if farther away.

I try to make a connection with a partner/associate by asking about their background or their interests or their XZY area of law. Then try to spin that as something I'm also interested in. If easier it's an obvious connection or something that you've put in your "Interests" section (ie - I put "symphonies" in mine and a partner was on a board at a local symphony). But it's trying to find ways to connect to that person, along with all the other advice this thread has given.

Lunch is pretty nice usually but they typically send younger associates that are more fun.
