How does everyone feel about objective statements on resumes for SA and internship positions?

I always used very specific and targeted objective statements when I worked in finance. Is that the norm for legal resumes?

Nope. I was told to remove mine by the career office. Also, none of the sample resumes on any law schools website has the section.

Personally I think objective statements are a waste of space :P

Legal resumes never have objective statements. They're tacky and pointless anyway.

Never for a legal resume. There is no room for argument on this one.

I'd argue there's no room for an objective on any resume.

I've heard from countless recruiters and critiques that an objective statement is one of the most pointless things you can do with a resume. You seek a position as a summer associate with our firm? Hmm, couldn't have figured that out based on the fact that you applied for a summer associate position, and mentioned it on your cover letter...

No objective statement

Your cover letter should cover this (see what I did thur?).

Save the line on your resume for something else that you need to include.
