I'm some ways off of law school (2-3 years), but I'm definitely interested in Shipping Law. I was wondering if you guys can help me out with two questions.

1) Just how niche of a market is it?
2) Who are some big firms that even have a Shipping Law practice?

Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks for your time.

can't say for sure, but i think most firms that do a lot of shipping law also do a lot of bird law and space law.

blank rome ,brah--double check chambers for more firms

--not really a niche if you're on the coasts--if you're in flyover country, you'll probably be hard-pressed to find firms that do this

Thanks a lot. Will check it out.

One more question, if you guys have the time. If a firm in London is my ultimate goal, like Ince or Holman, Fenwick and Willan, would it be possible to lateral into a position there if I start off practicing in a different area? I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here, and again, thanks for the responses.

dont firms in london usually hire english lawyers? it might be pretty tough if you're going to be educated in the US.
