Didn't get interview through lottery - Can I try to request?

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:49 pm

There were a few firms coming that I didn't get interviews with but we are on a pure lottery system. Is it appropriate to contact the hiring manager and try to get squeezed in? I understand the firms will get my resume simply because I bid, but would another email be helpful?

Thanks.

I thought most schools with pure lottery OCI had elaborate systems set up for interview trading / requesting slots on firms you missed out on the first time? If so you should probably at least pursue those avenues first, and after that trying to squeeze in by talking to them in person when they're at your school may work better.

at my school, some people were able to score interviews by stopping by the interviewer's room during some dead time, and expressing interest in the firm and asking to talk after they are finished with their scheduled interviews. that is probably the best approach.
