After hiring 46 SA's in 2009, Jenner & Block's Chicago office hired only 16 SA's in 2010 and is anticipating hiring the same number in 2011, should we expect a rebound in J&B's hiring in 2012?
(NALP)

How does any firm sustain such a dramatic decrease in associates?

Obviously, but a few major firms in Chicago have returned to near pre-2009 hiring levels. I was wondering if those in the know anticipated J&B to do the same (Fall 2012).

Which major firms in Chicago have returned to near pre-2009 hiring levels?

Of the major players, only Kirkland & Ellis and Sidley Austin are at pre-2009 hiring levels. Others are slowly picking up.

Also, my second question was not specific to J&B, it was a general inquiry relating to firm infrastructure.

I believe Sidley actually hired more this year than in 2009, Kirkland about the same.

Thanks for the correction, ND. Any input/insight on the amount of SA's Jenner will be hiring in 2012 would also be appreciated.
