Top Law Schools

So I planned on re-taking LSAT and not attending a TTTT out of state and happened to land an interview at this firm for a legal assistant/secretary. I dont know if any of you heard of this firm in NYC but I am unsure if it is a good idea to take this position, if I plan on attending law school because some of the law firms require some sort of commitment. Any input about them please feel free to tell me, I had an opportunity at Weitz & Lux in NYC as well but Asbestos law turned me away

I've never ever seen a story about them or heard anything about them, but my good friend Google might be able to help you out.

Latham is a much much better place to be than Weitz & Luxenberg. It is a well respected biglaw firm, although its reputation was tarnished a bit among law students when it laid off a large number of its existing and incoming associates. If it is your best job offer I would probably take it.

are you seriously asking if members of a top law schools forum know of latham?

There are plenty of people who take these positions and don't end up fulfilling the two-year "commitment." It's not a huge deal and most firms have a high turnover rate and are hiring for these types of positions pretty frequently, but if it ends up being a big inconvenience for one reason or another (case by case basis depending on a number of circumstances) it could make you look a little bad. The more fungible you are, the less likely they'll care much. They tend to be pretty understanding about these things, so unless they really hammer in specific reasons why it would be crucial for you to stay, I wouldn't worry.

More likely, once you paralegal somewhere you'll probably be reluctant to go back. If you can get an associate position at Latham, you can get one in a bunch of other places.

Being I am re-taking a third time and opted against attending a TTTT especially out of state TTTT, I figured it wouldn't be bad move taking secretary position within this firm although I was hoping more for paralegal type of position. Thanks for the feedback.
