I've seen it in a non-trivial number of opinions. It's pronounced in-app-uh-zit with emphasis on app.Desert Fox wrote:I had to look that word up.dresden doll wrote:Inapposite joke.Desert Fox wrote:In my experience it holds, but my experience is exceedingly limited.dresden doll wrote: There is an argument that a lot of academic placement is self selection. I only mention it because apposite has a secondary pronunciation (uh-poz-it). Inapposite does not, so in-uh-poz-it is wrong.bjsesq wrote:Coolquakeroats wrote:I've seen it in a non-trivial number of opinions. It's pronounced in-app-uh-zit with emphasis on app.

If I were fairly certain I'd be middle of the class at a good school, would I be better off being top of the class at a lesser school?

Perhaps, but the problem here is that you can't assume you'll be at the top of the class at a lesser school.Anonymous User wrote:If I were fairly certain I'd be middle of the class at a good school, would I be better off being top of the class at a lesser school?

This thread is relevant to my interests.

Reading the profiles of the past Bigelow scholars is just depressing.Anonymous User wrote:Wow, SO much good info on this thread. I am SO grateful!
I just looked into Bigelow and my panic attack subsided, haha

I guess I should have gotten a PhD before law school and been published multiple times (including publications in multiple languages): http://www.law.uchicago.edu/node/525/publications

There is no question that if you want to teach in a top 10 school, pedigree is a big factor. However, There are planty of lower tiered schools that will take people who didn't go to a top name law school. IN addition, regardless of the law school attended, if you publlish a number of article in top journals and top law reviews, you will be in demand. Yes, I have even seen a few Cooley grads on the faculties of law schools. The key is your publication quality and where they were published.

Would reading articles by legal academics make someone a better attorney? I'm a 0L and I don't plan on reading any, but I'm curious as to what purpose they supposedly serve.
