No journal. Possible slight connection to State Supreme Court justice. Paid 1L summer job with very well-known local boutique firm. 2L summer with state government.

I realize (and may come to regret the fact) that this info is extremely specific and potentially easily identifying but I am new to this whole process and feel I need to give you guys concrete data to consider for more educated advice.

My first choice would obviously be state supreme court. After that, I would almost prefer a trial court clerkship b/c an appellate court clerkship doesn't seem to carry the same prestige as supreme court clerkships and I am like 95% positive that I will be doing trial work post-clerkship. I fully admit that I could be completely off base here. Thanks. :)

I don't think you'll really want a guess. Most of the wisdom here in regarding Art. III. For state clerkships, you're career services should have better information on how students in your school have done. It's so unique to each locale that our guesses would do little for you.

But, if you want a guess, I'll guess 34.

Depends on state, but often times appellate is just as prestigious as supreme (especially in places where the supreme court is in a less desirable location than some appellates). Many trial courts won't even have clerks. If you have ties to a judge, that's pretty helpful. Clerkships in general are a bit of a crap shoot, but you're competitive enough to make it worth the applications.
