It's been acknowledged that it's legally possible; but is it politically possible? Yes, but I honestly think you'd be at a major disadvantage. That would hold true almost anywhere. What shot, politically, does an American have in a race to be a British MP? Even though an (former) American could legally be elected to the House of Lords, how likely would that be?

Re: Can a foreign born law student go into politics in the USA?
I'm foreign but have been living in the U.S. about 10 years now, from a country more similar to the U.S. than the U.K. IMHO, someone would have to live in the U.S. a long time (20+ years) and sound 100% American. Unless you're Arnie, even a slight accent is too much.
Of course, as others have said, the OP is not getting into Yale or any other top law school, but the question is interesting nonetheless.

go back to where you came fromjustwondering123 wrote:I aspire to go to Yale Law School and after working for a couple of years in a firm to pay of debt, i wish to enter politics, like maybe run for senator/mayor/ representative.
I just wanted to know if this is possible and the realities of this since ill be coming to the states at the age of 22. Will i just be viewed as a foreigner even if i was a green card citizen (would i have to declare citizenship to run)
Thanks guys

Could you see America from your house in the UK? If so, that might be good enough to land you on a presidential ticket.
And I'll reiterate the point I made earlier: we don't like your kind 'round here. First you try to take our educational opportunities, then you try to take our jobs, and then--to top it all off--you try to run our country and tell us what to do? Some nerve! I hope we annex that cute little country of yours and turn around and sell it to France at a profit.
