If the internship is only 3-4 weeks in duration, is it still ok for me to put "Summer 2011" when referring to it in my resume?

List things in your resume by "July 2011 to August 2011"

Never by season.

OCS told me to use seasons, especially "Summer" for brief jobs and internships.

Seasons are fine if the only jobs you've EVER had were on a clear semester basis, such as most internships.

If you have other employment on your resume, you'd list that by month, so follow that pattern and list the months for your internship as well.

While I can understand OCS's reasoning in using a vague seasonal term, like "Summer," you have to realize that a lot of (most?) lawyers are very nit-picky when it comes to language. Ambiguous language may raise suspicion and, if they inquire about it during an interview, may feel that your resume was disingenuous. Also, like the poster above said, if you have other employment on your resume that doesn't conform neatly to the "summer"-type duration, it would look odd to have months for some things and "summer" or "winter" for others.

HLS says to not even use months. Just use years. That is kinda strange, but I'd imagine it would help hide a huge unemployment gap.

Dumb advice.

Seasons are fine on a law student's resume.

lol people act like their way is the only acceptable way. My CSO is fine with listing by month. I have seen both (season and months) on various law school's resume examples.
