Applying for 3L OCI before 2L SA offers come out

Okay so my firm (DC Big) doesn't give out offers until sometime in September. That being said, I am going to apply for 3L OCI.

My question: how can 3L OCI firms take you seriously when they see your resume and your 2L SA and immediately (reasonably) conclude: (1) he will jump ship and go back to his firm if he gets an offer; or (2) he was too weird/incompetent to get an offer from the 2L SA firm.

Anyone have any insight on this issue? Though irrelevant to the discussion, I will definitely jump ship and come back to my current firm if I get an offer.

When they ask you whether your firm extended an offer, say decisions will not be made until September. If you're not asked that, then be sure to clarify that at some point in the interview. It's a conversation, you know.

And no, they won't think you're going to turn down their offer for saying this. It's just explaining an important factor in 3L OCI.

Would something to that effect be approp to put in my cover letter, or better to save for the interview?
