0L with offer on the table for 1L SA?!
Through my year off I developed a great deal of contacts at a NLJP250 firm that has 5 total branches in the country. One of the branches is in my hometown and is the biggest firm in town even though it is a TT/TTT city. Anyway, they offered me a 1L paid SA position where they only take around 8 total SA's (1L/2L). The firm in my city has around 150 lawyers so I cannot believe I have been offered this great deal and the chances to make $10K+ my 1L summer. I am attending a T25 school that lies close to my desired market, a la DC. Would this 1L position open doors to getting a 2L look for the DC firm for my second summer?

This comment, not the 0L job offer, is the true mark of a champion.Anonymous User wrote: even though it is a TT/TTT city

There are about 10,000 reasons why a 1L SA is a good thing, and about 20,000 why it's a good thing to have secured before law school even begins. But they don't really help you in the job hunt. It's a bullet point to talk about, but not material the way prior work experience, relevant work experience, a top school, or top 1L grades are.Anonymous User wrote:thesealocust wrote:No.

Possible... firms generally have their operations/hiring in different offices pretty separate. But ask people you know at the firm now to set you up with DC area contacts and start to build those relationships. If you make a good impression at your office, it certainly can't hurt you trying to get into the DC office of the same firm.Anonymous User wrote:Would this 1L position open doors to getting a 2L look for the DC firm for my second summer?

Saying that you'd rather work in the DC office could also backfire.
They'll know you want outta that TTT hometown of yours and will think twice about inviting you back for 2L summer, even if you get great performance reviews.

FYI, my post was based on you applying to OTHER DC firms. Looking at your OP now I can't tell if you mean the same firm, just in DC, which would be different.
