Advice for Securing Something for 2L

I am rising 2L and absolutely sure I will strike out at OCI. I attend a T2, and our school does not rank. Without ranks/percentiles or any median gpa for our class available, I have no idea where I stand. Nonetheless, I am confident that I am no where near the top 10%.
Hence, is mass-mailing and networking my only options of securing some type of work for 2L summer? I gave up biglaw after 1L fall, and realize my chances of mass-mailing big firms outside of OCI is a waste of time. I am desperately hoping to land something with a mid-sized firm within the state. Do I mass mail these firms and pray to hear a response?
