Big Law Transcripts

Can someone please explain how this works. If i submit my official transcript and get an offer at for example Quinn (or any other big law firm)....

Is that it..are my grades basically finished?

I have a friend that works at Sidley as a summer associate and they just asked them to submit official transcripts.

I am taking some summer classes which will not be out before OCI...but will the firm I choose see this either way?

I guess my Q is
1. Do firms ask for official transcripts once you are already working there as a summer associate
2. If your grades for some reason go down will that screw over your offer?

Any info from people who have ACTUALLY done a summer associate at big law is much appreciated.

1. Yes. Many firms will ask you to submit an official transcript again. In some cases, the firm will ask you to sign a document that allows them to obtain transcripts directly from your registrar.

2. If your grades go down a little, it's no cause for concern. However, if you have a significant drop they may ask you for an explanation. If your drop is significant, and you have no good explanation, then yes, you may not get an offer at some firms.
