That's a harsh curve for T25. 3.28 is top 1/3? I think that is median at my T50. I can see why schools or students would want some inflation, because 3.4 would sound a lot better on the resume (if that was top 1/3)...

All that matters is the rank, not the meaningless GPA figure. A 3.3 at one school could be the same as a 3.0 from another. That number is meaningless. But his nearly top 1/3 rank seems like something to leave on, even if the GPA isn't next to it.

1) why not include only your class rank? employer can ask what the GPA is during the interview. i concur w/ kaiser, rank matters!
2) if you don't mind, what is the curve at your school - 3.0?

OP, when I saw the thread title (which does not contain your GPA or ranking) I assumed that you must be below median. Employers will think the same thing.

You always put it on, unless you are dead last in the class, since that is what no GPA means.
Besides, why are you shy about top third of the class? 2/3 of your peers are dying to be there.

I am at a T2 and my gpa is 3.0 rank is bottom 30%ish..leave it off?

I would just put GPA: 3.0, and leave off the bottom 30ish

Leave out your GPA if it's below 3.7. Leave out your rank if it's below top 10%.

People who leave off rank are below median. Since the average rank of people below median is top 75%, that's the assumption when you leave off your rank.

That is a decent GPA. Put it on. As everybody above has said, if you don't, recruiters will assume the worst.

Many firms have a Top 1/3 cutoff. You're close enough, so leave it on... if you don't put it on, they'll assume you were below the Top 1/3, and throw your resume in the trash.

I've talked people from recruiting at both Jones Day (she worked there in the past) and Bryan Cave (works there presently) both have advised me to include a GPA, regardless of what it is.

Well, makes sense for them to want it regardless--they can just trash all the resumes that don't meet their cut-off. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea to list a 2.8.

I believe the Bryan Cave recruiter's intonation was that she would be pissed if she had to go to the trouble to find it. So any shot one would have gained by leaving it off would be screwed by requiring them to put in the extra effort.
