Hey. I am currently 1L SAing. I am involved in an M&A transactional group. I am currently doing lots of intern-level work, which is really boring. I am sure there must be some awesome upsides to the work. What are they?

the associates love the fast past, the negotiations, the rush of getting a deal done, the actual paper pushing is horrendous. Nothing worse than getting a closing binder ready during an all nighter so that it's ready before the market opens and have the deal fall through at 6:30am.

Also, there seems to sometimes be some room for creativity on how to structure deals -- right now, my friends report most of the deals are pretty vanilla, but that every blue moon you'll see a deal where ideas are just flying around. If I could swing the unpredictable hours, I'd have been super interested in transactional work. I'm trying to get a good blend of transactional IP work, IP lit, and niche commercial lit (privacy, consumer fraud).
