Let's use this thread to ask questions, give tips, share results, etc... as we all try to find jobs and such.

Bidding started yesterday, only two months to go.

It would be fantastic if we got our grades back (thank you Con Law)

Checking in. I'll probably be here pretty consistently once my 3 unknown grades are released and the CSO releases past OGI data.

At least two sections have their conlaw grade.

Waiting for the last grade is miserable, especially when it is for a class that has such a large historic grade range.

Just wanted to tag the thread so I can get to it easier once the last grade and OCS data come out.

Is Wednesday the deadline for grade submissions by profs? If so I am guessing they will all be up by Friday if the profs turn them in on time.

Yes, Wednesday is the deadline. Depending on how many profs wait until Wednesday it is entirely possible that not everyone will get them back by Friday. Lets just keep hoping they can churn them out sooner rather than later.

Thank God, we found the one person on this forum who knows the difference between a troll and "a flame."

Thank you, I'm so proud. I'd like to thank hours of searching the interwebs during finals, my mother, and my hands for being so good.

Any suggestions on having a 3.5 GPA, looking at SoCal and NYC (with ties in each). But issue being that I had all A-'s in fall, and all B+'s in spring. Not sure what happened but didn't slack off. Maybe just enjoyed fall profs more but who knows? But will this be some big issue at OGI's or will I just be the same another 3.5-er?

Would I be a total dumbass to not do OGI because I really don't want to do biglaw and I'm pretty committed to doing public service?

Consensus among a few of my friends here says "yes" so I was wondering if you guys agreed.

do OGI anyway, the worst that will happen is you'll get offers that you don't accept. There's always the possibility that come September you'll have a craving for 80 hour workweeks and BMW's.

Re: Itsirtou

-----HUGE MASSIVE DISCLAIMER-----

THIS MAY BE VERY BAD ADVICE SO I DO NOT KNOW

If you want PS and are doing OGI, I can *potentially* think of a drawback. I'm not sure if it follows the same as 1L summer but PS employers may ask you if you participated in OGI or applied for private sector jobs as a means of gauging your interest in PS. I know certain organizations did this for 1L summer as well as stuff like PILA grants.

I would still say its probably better to do OGI then not to do OGI, but maybe this is something no one else has mentioned

If you think you can land a public service gig, and you're sure you don't want to do big law (though this is an assumption worth questioning), why bother with OGI?

I guess those are the two things I'm nervous about -- whether or not I can land a public service gig that I really would enjoy, and whether or not I'm dismissing biglaw too soon (although it's never been something I wanted to do).

And with what seems like everyone else bidding on OGI, I felt kind of stupid being the one person saying "lol nope I'm not doing it!"

To be fair, I know a few people who are not doing OGI (some with high grades too).

Keep in mind, I think you'd also have to make a decision about accepting a firm from OGI probably before most Public Service jobs will be able to tell you (correct me if I'm wrong).

So if you want PS more than big law, then you're gonna face the same decision come October.

Huh -- I'm actually not sure whether the decisions from firms will come before the decisions from PS jobs, but I have a suspicion you're correct about that for a lot of them, with the exception (maybe) of government jobs. I might talk to Yared about that in the next few days.
