How much does it matter when you get your good grades? (Gov)

So, rising 3L at a T6. After 1L I was at or slightly above median, after 2L I'm top third. I realize that top third from a T6 is not good enough for some of the federal jobs, but for those jobs where top third gives someone a chance how much will it matter that I got most of my good grades after half the class already had firm jobs?

Probably won't matter at all. The ppl doing the hiring (unless they are an alum or you tell them) are not going to have any idea what your school's curve is and what the median gpa is. Even if they did know, I doubt they would care. Seriously, if you were in their shoes, would you care?

(OP here) I feel like this is directly against conventional TLS wisdom that employers know schools' curves and that a B+, median GPA at one school is going to be treated more like a C+, median GPA at a peer school than like a B+, top-third GPA at a peer.

(unless I'm misreading your post and it actually is responding to the topic I raised)

I think private employers know the curve because they recruit basically in bulk from the top ten or whatever. But I don't think government jobs, with much less turnover and far fewer jobs, would necessarily know the curves.

At least for internships, I never had a government job ask me for transcripts period.

God Bless Northwestern's insane 3.5 median.

IMO you shouldn't have HH. That makes H look less bad.
