Ask your CSO or mass mail or call chambers and apply of Dec. 1 if it won't interfere with exam studying.

Didn't apply for any CoA externships, but I imagine the process is the same for federal district courts. I went the mass mail route, but it probably would have been better to actually call the chambers and figure out who is hiring summer help and who isn't so as to budget my time better (and save a lot of paper). Your school should have a copy of the Judicial Yellow Book to get some contact info, but you can usually use contact info that is provided online, too.
