Part of it is that EJW is becoming more widely advertised, increasing the number of applicants, and the fact that this year there are drastically fewer (1) employers coming, and (2) number of jobs available at the few employers who are coming.

Dinged at LAS, completely shut out of New York, my former home. Shit.
Still, I got some interviews, and it's more important for me to be a PD. Location is secondary.
Final tally:
Yes at Hennepin, Miami and New Hampshire.
No at LAS, Bronx, Brooklyn, Palm Beach, Colorado.
Overall a good outcome, and I am grateful. I am kinda heartbroken about the possibility of not returning to New York, but again, the work comes first no matter where it is.

I'm a 2L and have two interviews EJW (CO & NH), and I'm happy to have gotten those. But is there any other reason to stick around outside of my interview times? I'll be coming up from Charlottesville and would rather not stay the night if there's no point to be around on Saturday. Are there other activities? I'm only interested in PD jobs, so I'm not sure how much networking I'd really want/need to do.

Is it time to start applying to prosecutor offices? Just kidding.
I didn't expect any of us to do really great but... Man, with the exception of that one guy, we got killed ITT. Sorry it hasn't worked out for you Al. Hopefully well all get local jobs.

Sorry Jessuf. You'll still be there for table talk though right?

Got LAS, CO, and KY. Feel very fortunate.
I had a former professor (who's very well-respected in the death penalty community) email a few offices for me as I applied for interviews. For those thinking about this in the future, I'm sure this couldn't hurt in setting you apart from the crowd. I'm not sure what he wrote.

Got interviews with CO, BDS, and LAS. Got an invite with Bronx at a career fair in MA. Also feel very lucky.

Hey I'm trying to sign up with CO and when I click one of the days the page keeps refreshing. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am in a clinic now, but have not gone to trial (yet). I emphasized the fact that I came to law school to be a public defender and explained why. My cover letters were also office-specific.Anonymous User wrote:What did you write about in your cover letter? I had a lot of success last year but not as much this year. Students at sponsoring schools were also able to register for free, which means you also have students submitting applications "just because"Tanicius wrote:Part of it is that EJW is becoming more widely advertised, increasing the number of applicants, and the fact that this year there are drastically fewer (1) employers coming, and (2) number of jobs available at the few employers who are coming.

I'm refusing to take this EJW application review seriously because I think I'm a strong applicant with in-court experience. This will not get us down!

I was really bummed about it yesterday but am definitely feeling better about it now. This will be my 3rd semester appearing on the record and I've only interned at PD's during law school summer. I plan to apply to each of these place directly (I was going to try and get apps out to non-ejw places this weekend) and also just go to the table talks.

And for those of us who don't attend T14s, it doesn't help that the sponsoring schools are Stanford and GULC.Anonymous User wrote:Students at sponsoring schools were also able to register for free, which means you also have students submitting applications "just because"Tanicius wrote:Part of it is that EJW is becoming more widely advertised, increasing the number of applicants, and the fact that this year there are drastically fewer (1) employers coming, and (2) number of jobs available at the few employers who are coming.

Thank you lord. I got a second round interview. Looks like I didn't bomb the hypo during the first interview, or if I did they didn't care much.

So to make people feel better about EJW I talked to someone who works for one of the PD offices attending and they said they were just swamped with applications that they didn't thoroughly review all of them like they wanted to. Leaves hope I guess!

Yeah. I'm guessing table talk and direct apps might be more effective.Anonymous User wrote:So to make people feel better about EJW I talked to someone who works for one of the PD offices attending and they said they were just swamped with applications that they didn't thoroughly review all of them like they wanted to.
