The gist of it seems to be that the future of legal employment in the US is with boutiques and top rate uber select biglaw firms in NYC, DC, SF, etc.
I think the claims about outsourcing are a bit off, though. Remeber how all the CS and IT people were supposed to be outsourced to India? Well sorry, but it just didn't happen, lots of CS and IT work is still here, and the same will be the case for lawyers, although it will put more pressure on shitlaw to become like Wal-Mart in terms of logistics and such.

I, for one, think "buy one divorce, get the second half off" would be a real value-added proposition for a large slice of shitlaw clientele.dissonance1848 wrote: It will put more pressure on shitlaw to become like Wal-Mart in terms of logistics and such.

I agree with this. Outsourcing will not take off to the same extent as in other industries because the consequences of screwing up outsourced tasks are so much higher. If some customer service drone in India gives bad advice, then at most the company has lost one customer. If a document reviewer in India discloses a privileged document, then the waiver could potentially be devastating.
It boggles my mind how the ABA goes to all the trouble to certify American law schools and require bar certification, but will let a graduate of some random school in India (which almost certainly cannot hold a candle even to a TTTT) practice law.

So, conclusions:
V10s are doing fine.
Non-elite V100s that are spread thin across too many markets are doing poorly.
OMG, revolutionary!

You missed a category. The dla piper "McDonalds of law firms" approach seems to be working.RVP11 wrote:So, conclusions:
