Telecommuting Summer Position as a 1L?

I'm a 1L at GW with grades right at the median. I have a summer job offer at home but I'd rather stay in DC. I also have a telecommuting offer.
I haven't had any other interviews despite applying for a ton of jobs (I think it's because my undergrad grades weren't stellar, since friends with higher undergrad gpas, less work experience, and worse law school gpas have had lots of interviews and some offers... mostly all before grades came out)
I have an opportunity to telecommute for an advocacy group out of NYC. I'd be doing legal research on their issue and I think updating their social networking stuff.

How bad would it look to telecommute for a 1L summer job? Is that a big faux pas and I shouldn't even be considering it?

If it's a good job and fits with your overall career goals, do it. It's not like you're going to write on your résumé that you sat at home all day, right?

+1/ You shouldn't put it on there that you worked from home. It's just a matter of putting in your actual work experience and live happily ever after...

Something to think about: Will you be able to establish good rapport with the attorneys you work with in your telecommuting job? This is at least as important--if not more so--than the substantive work you do your 1L summer in terms of securing a 2L position.

I don't know whether this should be the deciding factor, but it is definitely something I would weigh.
