Hi guys. I have my first 2L summer internship with DA's offices today. I will have taken crim pro investigation and crim pro adjudication, however due to forced schedule conflicts I cannot take evidence before starting work this summer. How should I approach this topic when it comes up (I assume it will) in my interviews? Thanks.

Will you be making courtroom appearances on your own under a limited (student) license? If so, not having taken evidence really might be a problem. If not, not and don't worry about it.

If so...well...evidence isn't brain surgery but neither is it child's play. If the subject comes up and it looks like you need to offer a solution, you might tell them that you are going over an evidence handbook (the sort some lawyers take into the courtroom routinely) and you think you should be okay. Then make it so.

Thanks. Yeah, I think I will tell them that I am doing self-studying and will be ready come summer.....I don't know if that will work but it's all I have I think.

Here, in California, you need to have taken evidence (or at least be enrolled in evidence) to become a certified law student which would allow you to appear in state court.

My state does not seem to have this requirement.

Also, the interview went well and I was told that lack of evidence would not hurt me.
